At 13:00 on August 21, the center of the tropical depression was located at about 20.6 degrees North latitude - 108.5 degrees East longitude, over the Northern Gulf of Tonkin, about 110km east-northeast of Bach Long Vi special zone. The strongest wind in the area near the center of the tropical depression is strong at level 7 (50-61 km/h), gusting at level 9.
Forecast for the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move in the North direction at a speed of about 3 km/h and is likely to strengthen into a storm.
By 13:00 on August 22, the storm's center will be located at about 20.9 degrees North latitude - 108.4 degrees East longitude; in the area north of the Gulf of Tonkin, about 190km east of Hai Phong, about 120km northeast of Bach Long Vi special zone. Wind intensity is strong at level 8, gusts at level 10.
The dangerous area is located about the north of the 19th parallel of the North latitude; from the 107th to 110th parallel of the East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the Gulf of Tonkin area (including Bach Long Vi, Van Don, Co To, Cat Hai and Hon Dau island special zones).
Forecast for the next 48 hours, the storm will move in a South-Southwest direction, at a speed of about 3 km/h.
By 13:00 on August 23, the storm's center will be located at about 20.4 degrees North latitude - 108.2 degrees East longitude; in the sea area north of the Gulf of Tonkin, about 150km east of Hai Phong, about 50km north of Bach Long Vi special zone. Wind intensity is strong at level 8, gusts at level 10.
The dangerous area is located about the north of the 19th parallel of the North latitude; from the 107th to 110th parallel of the East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the Gulf of Tonkin area (including Bach Long Vi, Van Don, Co To, Cat Hai and Hon Dau island special zones).
From the next 48 to 72 hours, the storm is likely to change direction and move in a Southeast direction, moving about 3km per hour.
Regarding the impact of tropical depressions and storms, at sea, the Gulf of Tonkin area (including Bach Long Vi, Van Don, Co To, Cat Hai special zones and Hon Dau island) has strong winds of level 6-7, the area near the storm center passing through is strong at level 8, gusting at level 10, sea waves are 2.5-3.5m high; strong sea waves.
Ships operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds, and large waves.
On land, heavy rain in the North increased from August 21 and concentrated in the eastern region of the North.
