Due to the impact of storm No. 11 Matmo, it is forecasted that from early morning of October 6 to the end of the night of October 7, Hanoi will have very heavy rain with rainfall of over 200mm.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the impact of storm No. 11 Matmo, from the night of October 5 to the end of the night of October 7, the mountainous and midland areas of the North will have heavy rain, with common rainfall from 150 - 250mm, locally very heavy rain over 400mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain with rainfall greater than 150mm within 3 hours.

The Northern Delta and Thanh Hoa will have moderate rain, heavy rain with common rainfall of 70 - 150mm, locally very heavy rain over 200mm.

The Hanoi area is less likely to be affected by storms and winds, so beware of thunderstorms, tornadoes and strong gusts of wind. It is forecasted that from early morning of October 6 to the end of October 7, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, with common rainfall of 70 - 120mm, locally over 150mm.

The Northern Hydrometeorological Station has also issued a detailed forecast on the impact of the storm on each area of the city.

Accordingly, from the morning of October 6, Hanoi will have strong winds of level 3-4.

From early morning of October 6 to the end of the night of October 7, Hanoi will have moderate rain, heavy rain, some places with very heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Total rainfall in common places in the northern area of the city is generally 80 - 150mm, some places over 200mm. The city center is generally 50 - 100mm, in some places over 150mm.

In the southern and western areas of the city, it is common to have 40 - 70mm, in some places over 100mm.

Regarding the impact of heavy rain, the meteorological agency of the North warned that thunderstorms may be accompanied by tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind that will break trees, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure.

Heavy rain in a short period of time overloaded the drainage system, causing flooding in residential areas, urban areas and low-lying areas, traffic congestion due to flooding and reduced visibility when driving, causing slippery traffic and accidents. High-intensity rain in a short period of time can cause landslides in mountainous areas, where the terrain is steep.

According to the Northern Meteorological Agency, storm No. 11 is unlikely to cause widespread heavy rain and flooding as on September 30, 2025. However, localized flooding may occur in some low-lying areas of the city.

Note, information warning of rain and flooding 1 - 3 hours in advance will be updated regularly on the information system of the hydrometeorological agency and the iHanoi information channel for people to proactively monitor.
