On the afternoon of March 22, people in the Tam Tan sea area (near Thay Thim Palace) in Tan Hai commune (Lam Dong province) discovered a rowfish (also known as dragon fish) with a long size, drifting near the shore.
According to records, the fish is about 4m long, flat body, silver in color and the dorsal fins extend along the body. At the time of discovery, the fish was drifting into the water near the shore.

The rare event of this fish species quickly attracted many people and tourists to see and take pictures.
Some local fishermen said that this is a rare time they have seen scallops appear in this coastal area.
Regalecus glesne (scientific name: Regalecus glesne) is a fish species that usually lives at a depth of hundreds of meters below sea level.
With a silk ribbon-like body, this fish species can be an average length of 3m, large individuals can reach up to 11m. They mainly eat plankton, krill, squid and small crustaceans.

This fish species rarely appears in near-shore waters. Their unusual presence has caused public uproar many times, especially in Japan - where scallops are also known as "Ryugu no tsukai" (messagers from the Water God Palace).
In May 2025, a rowfish about 2m long drifted into Ninh Thuan sea (Khanh Hoa province). In June 2025, an individual rowfish drifted into Con Dao beach.
