On the afternoon of November 10, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense and the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee held a press conference to introduce the Ministry of National Defense-level Scientific Conference to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Plei Me victory (November 26, 1945 - November 26, 2025).
Major General Nguyen Xuan Thuy - Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department (General Department of Politics); Colonel, Dr. Le Thanh Bai - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy and History; Dr. Nguyen Huynh Huyen - Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee chaired the press conference.
Major General Nguyen Xuan Thuy said that the 60th Anniversary of the Plei Me Victory is an important milestone in the resistance war against the US to save the country.
To continue to highlight the historical value and contemporary significance of the Plei Me Victory, the workshop "Plei Me Victory - Chair, meaning and historical lesson" focuses on exploiting, drawing lessons, and applying them in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new era of the nation.
Colonel, Dr. Le Thanh Bai said that the workshop aimed to analyze the context and situation in the international and domestic markets; plots and tricks of the US and Saigon delegation; the capabilities and response measures of the US and Saigon delegation; public opinion of the US and the world in the face of the attack of our army and people through each development stage of the Plei Me Campaign.
The workshop also aims to clarify the guidelines, viewpoints and policies of the Party Central Committee in leading and directing the resistance war against the US to save the country; the correct and timely decisions of the Central Military Commission, the General Command and the Central Highlands Front Command in launching the Plei Me Campaign, in order to find a way to defeat the US and defeat the US, affirming the determination to defeat the US invading empire.
Affirming the important role, strategic significance and basic reasons for the victory of the Plei Me Campaign; lessons learned from the art of leadership and direction of the campaign; large-scale concentrated combat; creatively applying it to the practice of building a national defense, a people's war zone in the new era of development of the Vietnamese nation.
Responding to a question from Lao Dong reporter at the press conference about the presentations at the Workshop, Colonel Le Thanh Bai said that the Workshop has 80 presentations, these are elaborate and serious scientific works.
Colonel Le Thanh Bai also said that the workshop also included presentations from leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, leaders of the General Staff, leaders of the General Department of Politics such as Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan... presentations from the Director of the General Department of Logistics - Engineering, Director of the Military Academy...
"Through the presentations, the stature of the victory is clarified and the characteristics of the victory are created, especially through which lessons are drawn for the present and the future" - Colonel, Dr. Le Thanh Bai said.
