In the afternoon of March 13, Cua Tung Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Border Guard) confirmed that at about 9 am on the same day, Mr. Ngo The Bien (residing in Thu Luat village, Vinh Hoang commune) discovered a wooden boat drifting to the beach of Thu Luat village.
Through inspection, the boat was 15m long, 4m wide and 5m high, painted red and had the Vietnamese flag on board.
However, there were no people on board, functional forces immediately coordinated with the Police and Military of Vinh Hoang commune to inspect the scene.
The ship was heavily damaged in the bow and deck. The cockpit was without steering equipment, machinery, and fishing gear.
In particular, the ship does not have a registration number, causing difficulties in determining the origin.
To resolve the matter, the units made a record and handed over the ship to the local authorities for management. At the same time, they notified the coastal border guard stations of Quang Tri province to continue searching for the ship owner.
Functional forces have also organized propaganda for local people to support the preservation of ships and prevent acts of property destruction.
