The focal point of impact stretches from the North to the Central region, in which the Central region continues to face the risk of thunderstorms accompanied by extreme phenomena.
Forecast from the night of April 16 to April 17, the North and North Central regions will experience rain, moderate rain, with heavy rain in some places. Common rainfall is 20–40mm, locally exceeding 100mm. From April 17, the temperature will decrease, and the weather will turn cool.
In the Central Highlands region, in the late afternoon and evening of April 16th, there will be showers and scattered thunderstorms, rainfall of 10–20mm, with heavy rain points over 50mm. Strong convection potentially poses a high risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms.
Reality has recorded unusual phenomena. In Hung Son mountainous commune, Da Nang city, hail has appeared in the middle of the dry season. The rain lasted more than 10 minutes, concentrated in Arâng and Ga'nil villages. The size of the stone is mainly small, not causing damage but clearly reflecting the extreme nature of the changing season weather.
Meteorological developments show that convective clouds are developing strongly in many mountainous areas of the Central region. These areas are likely to continue to experience showers and thunderstorms for a short time, then spread to neighboring localities. The characteristic of this pattern is that rain occurs quickly, with high intensity, making it difficult to accurately predict the location of the rainfall.
Natural disaster risks due to tornadoes, lightning, and hail are warned at level 1. Although the level is not high, the accompanying phenomena can cause direct damage to agricultural production, causing trees to fall, affecting houses and infrastructure.
It is noteworthy that localized heavy rain in hilly areas can trigger flash floods on small rivers and streams, while increasing the risk of landslides on slopes. Low-lying areas need to be wary of flooding during concentrated rain.
Specialized agencies also recommend that people closely monitor weather developments, proactively take preventive measures, and limit outdoor activities when there are strong thunderstorms to minimize risks.
