Lam Dong - An area of about 0.5ha in Dong Gia Nghia ward has many cracks, with a risk of landslides, threatening people's houses and traffic works.

On August 27th, Dong Gia Nghia Ward People's Committee (Lam Dong) said that it had carried out zoning and installed warning signs of landslide risk at people's land in Cay Xoai Residential Group.

This area is adjacent to the Dao Nghia - Quang Khe road project being implemented.

Through inspection, the landslide-prone area is about 0.5ha wide, belonging to land plot No. 70, map sheet No. 59. Many locations on the ground surface have cracks about 0.1 - 0.7m wide, 0.1 - 8m long.

Some adjacent and contiguous land areas also have extended cracks, showing that the risk of landslides may continue if heavy rain lasts.

Landslides have affected the crop area of Mr. Vu Van Te's household, including about 500 coffee trees in the business period, 60 newly planted durian trees, 20 pepper pillars and 21 cashew trees in the business period.

Notably, in the landslide-prone area, there is a solid house of about 120m2 of Mr. Te's family.

Currently, the house has not recorded cracks, subsidence or deformation, but is only about 5m away from the landslide area. If the developments continue to be complicated, houses and people may be affected.

Mr. Thai Minh Chau - Vice Chairman of Dong Gia Nghia Ward People's Committee, said that as soon as abnormal signs were detected, the locality notified people to proactively prevent them; and at the same time directed forces to regularly inspect and monitor the developments in the area.

The ward has placed warning signs, cordoned off dangerous areas, restricted people from approaching and mobilized Mr. Vu Van Te's family to proactively move people and property to safe places when there is a risk of unsafety.

Faced with the risk of affecting people and the Dao Nghia - Quang Khe road project, the People's Committee of Dong Gia Nghia ward proposed that the People's Committee of Lam Dong province direct specialized agencies to inspect and assess the current situation, causes and level of danger to have a handling plan.

The locality also requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate in assessing the risk of landslides; and at the same time requested the Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 3 to survey and determine the scope of impact on the Dao Nghia - Quang Khe road project and have appropriate reinforcement solutions.

While waiting for assessment, Dong Gia Nghia ward continues to closely monitor developments, warning people not to enter or operate in dangerous areas, especially when it rains heavily, in order to limit damage to people and property.
