At 7:00 a.m. on November 17, 2025, the Central Hydrometeorological Station issued an emergency flood warning on many major rivers in the Da Nang area. The water level on the Vu Gia River at Hoi Duoc reached 16.32m, 0.18m below alert level 3; at Ai Nghia was 8.95m, only 0.05m below alert level 3. On Thu Bon River, the water level at Nong Son will rise to 13.73m, about 0.73m above alert level 2; at Giao Thuy it will reach 6.96m, 0.46m above alert level 1. The stations of Cau Lau and Hoi An both recorded water levels below alert level 2. The Tam Ky and Han rivers are currently below alert level 1.
It is forecasted that in the next 12 hours, floods on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river system will continue to rise rapidly. The Vu Gia River is likely to exceed alert level 3, the Thu Bon River will remain above alert level 2, while the Han and Tam Ky rivers may increase to alert level 1 to alert level 2. From the next 12 to 24 hours, the water level on the rivers will fluctuate around alert level 1 to above alert level 2; the Thu Bon River may be below alert level 3.
From today to November 20, the Han River and Tam Ky River are likely to experience a new flood. The flood peak may reach alert level 2 to above alert level 2. Flooding on rivers is forecast to last for many days, causing the risk of deep flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, urban areas, along with the risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.

Many communes and towns along the river are warned of high risk of flooding such as Thanh My, Thuong Duc, Ha Nha, Dai Loc, Hoa Vang, Hoa Tien, Hoa Xuan, Cam Le, Ngu Hanh Son, Que Phuoc, Nong Son, Phu Thuan, Thu Bon, Duy Xuyen, Go Noi and areas of Dien Ban, Nam Phuoc, Hoi An.
The risk level of natural disasters due to floods is given at level 3. Floods appearing on a large scale can damage riverside structures, affect aquaculture areas, the environment and people's lives, and have a strong impact on socio-economic activities in the coming days.
