Lam Dong - Prolonged heavy rain causes cracks and landslides in Cat Tien commune, threatening 2 houses; many localities urgently support people to cope with flooding.

On the morning of July 29, leaders of Cat Tien commune (Lam Dong) said that prolonged heavy rain in recent days has caused landslides on Nguyen Viet Xuan road in hamlet 1, threatening the safety of two houses of Ms. Pham Thi Liem and Ms. Pham Thi Cuc.

At the scene, the area behind the two houses, adjacent to Hai Co stream, appeared many extended cracks, with a width of about 20cm.

The ground was broken, some sections of the built walls collapsed, the house foundation and structure showed signs of deformation.

Ms. Pham Thi Liem said that in the early morning of July 28, the family heard many loud noises coming from behind the house.

When checking, everyone discovered that the soil subsided, and many cracks appeared on the walls of the house, so they urgently moved the property to a safe place.

Mr. Ho Quoc Phong - Secretary of the Party Committee of Cat Tien commune - said that the locality is continuing to monitor developments, assess the level of impact and propose handling plans.

From the night of July 28 to the morning of July 29, in Da Teh 2 commune, heavy rain also caused localized flooding in some areas. The Military Command of the commune mobilized officers, soldiers and militia forces to support people in response.

Faced with the complicated developments of the weather, functional agencies recommend that people closely monitor the flood situation, pay attention to unusual signs such as cracks in the soil, subsidence of house foundations, cracked walls or leaning trees.
