Today (September 16), Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and the southern provinces of Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang will have moderate to heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The areas of Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An from the evening of September 16 to September 17, will have moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 50-90mm, locally over 200mm.

Lang Son, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh and southern Son La province from the evening of September 16 to September 17, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 30-50mm, locally over 90mm.

Warning of the risk of heavy rain with rainfall greater than 100mm within 3 hours.

Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Cao Bang and northern Son La province, from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri on the night of September 16 and September 17, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 15-30mm, locally heavy rain over 70mm.

The area from Hue to Lam Dong and the South in the evening and evening of September 16, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10-30mm, locally heavy rain over 50mm.

In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, hail is level 1.

The meteorological agency forecasts that from the night of September 17, heavy rain in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will tend to gradually decrease.

Regarding floods, in the next 24 hours, floods on the Boi River (Phu Tho), Hoang Long River (Ninh Binh) will maintain at alarm level 2-alerte 3 and above alarm level 3; downstream of the Buoi River will continue to rise and be above alarm level 3; downstream of the Ma River, Chu River will continue to rise and are likely to be at alarm level 1-alerte 2 and above alarm level 2.

High risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers and urban areas, flash floods and landslides on slopes in provinces/cities in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa.

Warning level of natural disaster risk due to floods is level 2-3. Floods on rivers cause flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, affecting activities such as waterway traffic, aquaculture, agricultural production, people's livelihoods and socio-economic activities.
