Forecast from the night of September 17, heavy rain in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will gradually decrease.

Today (September 15), the south of Lao Cai, Son La provinces; the Northern Delta region, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain.

Heavy rain continues until September 17

The southern area of Phu Tho province; Hanoi, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An from the evening of September 15 to September 16, there will be heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 60-120mm, locally over 200mm.

The southern areas of Lao Cai, Son La, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen provinces; the north of Phu Tho province; Hai Phong, Bac Ninh from the evening of September 15 to September 16, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 40-70mm, locally over 150mm.

From the night of September 16 to the end of September 17, the southern areas of Son La, Phu Tho, Hanoi provinces; Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 30-60mm, locally over 100mm.

Warning of the risk of heavy rain with rainfall greater than 100mm in 3 hours.

Ha Tinh area and northern Quang Tri province in the evening and night of September 15, there will be rain, moderate rain with common rainfall from 20-40mm, locally heavy rain over 70mm.

The area from the south of Quang Tri province to Hue, the South Central Coast and the Central Highlands in the late afternoon and evening of September 15, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 10-30mm, locally over 60mm.

In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, hail is level 1.

The meteorological agency forecasts that from the night of September 17th, heavy rain in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will gradually decrease.

Peak flood on Boi River (Phu Tho) rises above alarm level 3

Regarding the hydrological situation, currently, the flood on the Boi River (Phu Tho) has peaked and is receding. The flood peak on the Boi River at Hung Thi station is 12.77m (at 12:00 PM on September 15), 0.23m below alarm level 3. The flood on the Am River (Thanh Hoa) is fluctuating and above alarm level 1, on the Buoi River, Yen River (Thanh Hoa) is rising and above alarm level 2. The water level on the Thao River (Lao Cai), and rivers in Ninh Binh is rising and still below alarm level 1.

Warning from now (September 15) to September 16, a flood will appear on rivers in the North and Thanh Hoa. During this flood, the peak flood on the Boi River (Phu Tho) will rise above alarm level 3; the Hoang Long River (Ninh Binh), small rivers in Thanh Hoa will rise to alarm level 1 - alarm level 2 and above alarm level 2; rivers in Lao Cai will still be below alarm level 1.

High risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers and urban areas, landslides on slopes in provinces/cities in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa.

Warning level of natural disaster risk due to flood is level 1. Floods on rivers cause flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, affecting activities such as waterway traffic, aquaculture, agricultural production, people's livelihoods and socio-economic activities.
