According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 10:00 a.m. on August 22, the center of the tropical depression was at about 16.7 degrees north latitude; 121.3 degrees east longitude, on the mainland of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 6 - 7 (39 - 61 km/h), gusting to level 9. The tropical depression is moving northwest at a speed of 10 - 15 km/h.
Around tonight (August 22), the tropical depression will move into the East Sea, likely to strengthen into a storm, the fifth storm in the East Sea has the international name Kajiki.
At 10:00 on August 23, the center of the storm was at about 17.5 degrees north latitude; 117.1 degrees east longitude, in the eastern sea of the northern East Sea, about 560 km east-northeast of the Hoang Sa special zone. The strongest wind near the storm center is level 8 - 9, gusting to level 11. The danger zone is from 16 to 20 degrees north latitude; east 116.5 degrees east longitude. Level 3 natural disaster risk, the affected area is the northeast of the East Sea.
It is forecasted that in the next 48 hours, the storm will move westward at a speed of about 20 km/h and continue to strengthen.
At 10:00 on August 24, the center of the storm was at about 17.6 degrees north latitude; 111.7 degrees east longitude, in the sea north of the Hoang Sa special zone. Strong wind level 10 - 11, gust level 14.
The danger zone is from 16 to 20 degrees north latitude; between longitude 110 - 119 degrees east longitude. Level 3 natural disaster risk, the affected area is the northern East Sea (including Hoang Sa special zone).
It is forecasted that in the next 48 to 72 hours, the storm will move mainly westward, traveling about 20 km/h and is likely to strengthen.
After strengthening into a storm, the sea area east of the northern East Sea will have showers and thunderstorms, strong winds of level 6 - 7, then increase to level 8 - 9, gusting to level 11. Waves are 3 - 5 m high, very rough seas.
