The meteorological agency has forecast heavy rain developments in the next 24-48 hours.
The Northwest region, north of Phu Tho and Tuyen Quang from the evening of June 8 to the night of June 9, is forecast to have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 80 - 160mm, locally over 250mm.
Thanh Hoa and Nghe An from the evening of June 8 to the night of June 9, are forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 50 - 100mm, locally very heavy rain over 150mm.
Other places in the North from the evening of June 8 to the morning of June 9, it is forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 20 - 50mm, locally very heavy rain over 100mm.
The meteorological agency warns of the risk of heavy rain with rainfall greater than 100mm within 3 hours.
In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, hail is level 1.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting forecasts that from June 10, heavy rain in the Northwest and North Central regions will gradually decrease.
Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes.
