According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and early this morning (October 13), the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang city had showers and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy rain. Rainfall from 7pm on October 12 to 3am on October 13 was over 50mm in some places such as: Vinh Linh station (Thua Thien Hue) 66.2mm, An Tay station (Thua Thien Hue) 50.4mm.
It is forecasted that on the day and night of October 13, the area from Quang Tri to Lam Dong and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10 - 30mm, locally heavy rain over 80mm, thunderstorms will be concentrated in the afternoon and evening.

According to Mr. Mai Van Khiem - Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Department of Hydro-Meteorology, due to the influence of weak cold air combined with the easterly wind from the subtropical high pressure circulation encroaching on the west, the weather in the North is about to change.
"During the period from October 13 to 15, the Northern region, especially the Northeast, is likely to experience rain, moderate rain, and cloudy skies. The forecast for accumulated rainfall in 24 hours is generally below 50mm, so the possibility of flooding on river systems is very low" - Mr. Khiem said.
However, the Director of the meteorological agency also warned that during this time, there may still be local showers and thunderstorms, with a heavy rainfall of 30 - 50mm/hour, which can cause flooding, flash floods and landslides in some mountainous areas.
In the afternoon and night of October 13, the Northeast region and from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh will have rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms. Rainfall in the Northeast region is generally 15 - 30mm, locally over 70mm; the area from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh 20 - 40mm, locally over 80mm.
Warning of the risk of heavy rain over 70mm in 3 hours.
The meteorological agency warns that thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains can cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.
Mr. Khiem said that the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting will continuously monitor and update in short-term and extremely short-term forecasts (1 - 3 hours in advance) to promptly warn people and local authorities if there are any unusual developments.
Data analyzed by the meteorological agency also shows that in the next month, the total rainfall in the regions will generally be approximately the same as the average of many years. In particular, the provinces from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai have total rainfall generally 20 - 40% higher than the average of many years in the same period.
From now until November 10, it is forecasted that there will be widespread heavy rain in the early stages in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces. The provinces from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai are likely to experience some widespread heavy rains. Other areas will have many days of showers and thunderstorms; some days may have moderate to heavy rain.
