From the evening of April 30 to May 1, the Northern and North Central regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 15 - 40mm, locally over 80mm.
The meteorological agency warns that thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains are likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas. The warning level of natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning, and hail is level 1.
According to Mr. Mai Van Khiem - Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, one of the characteristics of thunderstorms during the changing seasons is their rapid development, often occurring within a narrow range but with strong intensity. The conflict between these air masses makes the atmosphere unstable, easily accompanied by strong thunderstorms accompanied by gusts of wind, lightning, and hail.
Therefore, people should closely monitor short-term warning bulletins from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting and local stations.
Forecasting the weather trend in the next month, the meteorological agency said that the total rainfall across the country is common at approximately the average for many years; Particularly, Central Central and South Central region is 10-30% lower than the average of the same period.
