Many areas across the country are experiencing fluctuations in weather. In recent days, the South has often had scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy rain. Meanwhile, the North will have thunderstorms interspersed with hot days.

According to Mr. Vu Anh Tuan - Deputy Head of Weather Forecasting Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (Department of Hydro-Meteorology), there may also be showers and thunderstorms in the Northern region around May 14.
"The rain will mainly occur in the late afternoon and evening. After that, the North may heat up and by the end of May there is a possibility of rain again. However, because of the forecast, it is necessary to monitor this form further" - Mr. Tuan said.
Regarding the trend of the total rainfall, the first half of May, the Central Highlands and the Southwest region has a higher rainfall of 5-25% higher than the average for many years. The Southeast has a total rainfall of approximately an average of many years. The second half of May, in the Central Highlands and the South, the total rainfall is approximately the average for many years.
In the Northern and North Central regions, in May, the total rainfall is approximately the average of many years. In the Central Central and South Central regions, the total rainfall will be short of 10 - 30% compared to the average of many years.
According to Mr. Vu Anh Tuan, the Northern and North Central regions are in the transition period from the cold season to the hot season.
"So the possibility of a relatively strong weather change and a lot of turmoil in the air is huge. Therefore, it is warned that thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind" - Mr. Tuan advised.
And also during this period, the Northern and North Central provinces may experience local heavy rain. With heavy rainfall in a short period of time, it will lead to the risk of flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, especially in mountainous provinces.
In the Central Highlands and the South, from now until the end of May, there is a possibility of thunderstorms due to the transition from the dry season to the rainy season.
"The sun has also appeared for a long time in the South and the Central Highlands. Therefore, it can be confirmed that the noise in the air is also stronger. Therefore, the ability to appear whirlwind, lightning, hail and strong winds in the Central Highlands, Southern region is also high" - Mr. Tuan emphasized.
Regarding the trend of hot weather, in May, hot weather in the North and North Central regions tends to increase. For the Southern and Central Highlands, there may still be days of localized heat. Due to the influence of hot weather, some places have severe heat combined with low humidity in the air, so there is a risk of fire and explosion in residential areas due to increased demand for electricity and the risk of forest fires.
