According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, currently, the eastern sea area of the central and southern East Sea, the area from Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand are experiencing showers and thunderstorms.
It is forecasted that during the day and night of May 5, the eastern sea area of the central and southern East Sea (including the eastern sea area of Truong Sa archipelago), the sea area from Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand will have scattered showers and thunderstorms.
During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind of level 6 - 7. All ships operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.
Regarding dangerous weather phenomena at sea, there is a possibility of tropical cyclones appearing in the East Sea in May. According to the average data of many years, there are 0.5 storms/tropical depressions in the East Sea.
From the end of June 2025, the strong southwest monsoon may cause high waves in the sea area from Binh Dinh to Ninh Thuan, the South China Sea area may reach 2 - 4m, sometimes over 4m, the Gulf of Thailand area, the common wave level ranges from 1 - 2.5m.
