The tropical depression is operating in the eastern sea area of the Gulf of Tonkin; moving slowly in the East direction at a speed of 5-10 km/h.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 AM on August 8, the center of the tropical depression was located at about 19.5 degrees North latitude - 108.6 degrees East longitude, in the sea area east of the Gulf of Tonkin. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is strong at level 6 (39-49 km/h), gusting at level 8. The tropical depression is moving slowly in the East direction at a speed of 5-10 km/h.

Forecast for the next 12 hours, the tropical depression will move in the East-Southeast direction at a speed of 5 - 10 km/h.

By 13:00 on August 8, the center of the tropical depression will be located at about 19.3 degrees North latitude - 109.4 degrees East longitude; in the area north of Hainan Island (China). Wind intensity is strong at level 6, gusting at level 8.

The dangerous area is in the range from 18.5 to 20.5 degrees North latitude; from longitude 107.5 to 111.0 degrees East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the Gulf of Tonkin area.

Forecast for the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will continue to move in the East-Southeast direction at a speed of 5-10 km/h. The intensity gradually weakens into a low pressure area with winds below level 6.

By 1:00 AM on August 9, the center of the low pressure area will be located at about 19 degrees North latitude - 110.5 degrees East longitude, in the area east of Hainan Island (China).

Regarding the impact of the tropical depression, the Gulf of Tonkin area has strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8; sea waves are 1.5-2.5m high, rough seas. The North and Central East Sea areas (including the Hoang Sa special zone) have strong winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusts of level 8; sea waves are 2 - 4m high, rough seas. The tropical depression is unlikely to strengthen into a storm and will not enter our mainland.

Ships operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds, and large waves.
