Tropical depression shows no signs of strengthening into a storm
Updated from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 13:00 on September 12, the center of the tropical depression was located at about 15.6 degrees North latitude - 110.3 degrees East longitude, about 150km southwest of the Hoang Sa special zone; about 230km southeast of Da Nang city.
The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is strong at level 6 (39-49 km/h), gusting at level 8. The tropical depression is moving in the Northwest direction at a speed of about 10 km/h.
Forecast for the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move in the Northwest direction at a speed of about 10 km/h.
By 13:00 on September 13, the center of the tropical depression will be located at about 17.1 degrees North latitude - 108.1 degrees East longitude; over the sea area of Quang Tri - Hue city, 130km east of Quang Tri, about 90km northeast of Hue city. Wind intensity is strong at level 6, gusts at level 8.
The dangerous area is in the range from 14 to 18.5 degrees North latitude; from longitude 107 to 111.5 degrees East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the western Hoang Sa special zone, the sea area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai.
Forecast for the next 48 hours, the tropical depression will move in a West-Northwest direction at a speed of 10-15 km/h and gradually weaken into a low pressure area.
By 13:00 on September 14, the center of the low pressure area will be located at about 17.8 degrees North latitude - 105.3 degrees East longitude; over the central region of Laos. Wind intensity will decrease to below level 6.
The dangerous area is located at about 16 to 19 degrees North latitude; west of the 101st parallel 109 degrees East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the sea area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang City.
Regarding the impact of the tropical depression at sea, the sea area west of the Hoang Sa special zone, the sea area from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai has strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8, waves 2-4m high; rough seas.
Ships operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds, and large waves.
Heavy rain continues in the Central region and gradually spreads to the North
Due to the impact of the tropical depression combined with the intertropical convergence zone, the Central region is experiencing heavy rain. Rain is forecast to continue in the Central region and then tend to gradually move northward in the direction of the tropical depression's movement and the intertropical convergence zone gradually raising its axis.
Regarding heavy rain on land, today, September 12, the area from southern Quang Tri to Quang Ngai mainly has moderate to heavy rain. Hue City and Da Nang City are the two localities with the heaviest rain.
From the evening of September 12 to September 13, heavy rain will be concentrated in the area from southern Quang Tri to Da Nang, while Ha Tinh, northern Quang Tri and eastern Quang Ngai will also have moderate to heavy rain. The eastern areas of provinces from Gia Lai to Lam Dong, the Central Highlands and the South will have rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms.
From the night of September 13 to September 14, heavy rain tends to shift to the North, concentrated in the area from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri. The midland and delta areas of the Northern region, the south of Son La and Phu Tho also have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms.
From the night of September 14th to September 15th, rain will continue to appear in the midlands, the Northern Delta and some northern mountainous provinces; while the focus of heavy rain in the Central region is concentrated in the southern area from Nghe An to Ha Tinh.
Heavy rain in the above areas is likely to last until the morning of September 16. In thunderstorms, there is a risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, strong gusts of wind; heavy rain can also cause flooding, flash floods and landslides.
