The meteorological agency continues to warn of the risk of heavy rain in the Central region in the coming days due to the possible appearance of tropical depressions/storms in the East Sea.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that many dangerous weather patterns are appearing simultaneously.

First cold air of the season arrives early

Yesterday, September 10th, cold air affected most of the eastern region of the North. Hanoi capital was also affected by cold air, the temperature dropped below 31 degrees Celsius. The weather turned to showers and strong thunderstorms, and some low-lying areas experienced localized flooding.

The lowest temperature in the North this morning is 11.9. fluctuating in the range of 22 - 25 degrees C, mountainous areas have places below 20 degrees C. Plains are cool, mountainous and midland areas are cold.

On September 11, the rain in the North will decrease, it will be sunny at noon and in the afternoon, the temperature will increase to 29 - 31 degrees Celsius.

Low pressure area intensity may change, complicated heavy rain

Regarding the diễn biến of the low pressure area in the East Sea area, it is forecasted that in the next 1-2 days, this low pressure area is very likely to strengthen into a tropical depression in the central East Sea area (with a probability of about 80%). It is possible that this tropical depression will strengthen into a storm (probability of about 30-40%).

On the night of September 10 and the day of September 11, the area from the south of Nghe An province to Da Nang city and the east of Quang Ngai province, the north of the Central Highlands will have moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall from 30-60mm, locally very heavy rain over 100mm.

The southern area of the Central Highlands and the South has moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 40-70mm, locally very heavy rain over 120mm.

On the night of September 11 and the day of September 12, the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang City and the East of Quang Ngai province will have moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall from 40-80mm, locally very heavy rain over 150mm.

The Central Highlands and Southern regions have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 30-60mm, locally very heavy rain over 100mm.

On the night of September 12th and September 13th, the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang City and the East of Quang Ngai province will have heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms with common rainfall from 50-100mm, locally very heavy rain over 200mm.

The meteorological agency warns that heavy rain in the Central region is likely to continue and develop complicatedly.

From September 14-17, under the impact of the tropical convergence zone with its axis passing through the Central region, the Central provinces are highly likely to continue to have moderate to heavy rain over a wide area, accompanied by a high risk of tornadoes, lightning, flash floods, landslides and localized flooding.

The diễn biến of the low pressure/tropical depression area, especially the trajectory and intensity, may still change. Therefore, the scope and rainfall in the Central region in the coming days are still uncertain and will be continuously updated.

People and local authorities need to regularly monitor the latest forecast and warning bulletins to proactively prevent risks caused by heavy rain, flash floods, landslides and flooding.
