According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and early this morning (September 22), the provinces of Son La, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Lang Son, Quang Ninh had moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain.

Rainfall from 7pm on June 21 to 8am on June 22 was over 100mm in some places such as: Lap Chieng (Hoa Binh) 224.8mm; Cho Chay (Hanoi) 144.2mm; Phuong Giao (Thai Nguyen) 139.6mm; Phuc Ninh (Tuyen Quang) 120mm; Luong Nha (Phu Tho) 120.8mm...

Lang Son and Bac Giang provinces on the morning of June 22 are forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 10 - 30mm, locally over 50mm.

In the areas of Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Hanoi in the evening and night of June 22, it is forecasted to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall from 20 - 50mm, locally over 150mm.

The meteorological agency warns of the risk of local heavy rain (rainfall greater than 100mm within 3 hours).

Other places in the North and Thanh Hoa on the night of June 22 are forecast to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall over 50mm.

From June 23, heavy rain in the Northern region will gradually decrease.

In the Central Highlands and the South in the late afternoon and evening of June 22, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall from 10 - 30mm, locally over 60mm.

During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Heavy rain is also likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas, industrial parks; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes.

Real-time warning information for areas at risk of flash floods and landslides is provided online on the website of the Department of Hydrometeorology at: https://luquetsatlo.nchmf.gov.vn and in separate bulletins warning of flash floods and landslides.

Regarding the hydrological situation, the upstream flood of Cau River in Gia Bay (Thai Nguyen) peaked at 27.43 m above alert level 3 at about 0.43 cm (at 0:00:006.22), the water level downstream of Cau River in Dap Cau is rising.

Water levels of other major rivers in the Red - Thai Binh river system fluctuate and are below alert level 1. On some small rivers in the North such as the Bac Giang and Trung rivers (Lang Son), a flood occurred with peak flood levels from approximately alert level 3 to above alert level 3.

From today, June 22 to June 23, in the upstream of Thao, Lo, Thuong and Luc Nam rivers, downstream of Cau river, small rivers in the Northern region are likely to experience a flood, with a flood amplitude of 2 - 5m on the rivers.

During this flood, flood peaks on small rivers are likely to reach alert level 2 - alert level 3. The water level downstream of Thao, Lo, Thuong, and Luc Nam rivers is below alert level 1; downstream of Cau river at Dap Cau is likely to be at alert level 1 to above alert level 1.

The meteorological agency warns that floods on rivers and streams may cause flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, affecting activities such as waterway transportation, aquaculture, agricultural production, people's livelihood and socio-economic activities.
