According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the low pressure trough currently has an axis at about 15 - 18 degrees north latitude connecting with a low pressure area in the North East Sea. At 7:00 a.m. on June 9, the low pressure area was located at about 17 - 18 degrees north latitude; 117.2 - 118.2 degrees east longitude.
The North East Sea area (including the Hoang Sa archipelago), the central and southern East Sea area (including the Truong Sa archipelago), the sea area from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand have had showers and thunderstorms.
It is forecasted that on the day and night of June 9, the above areas will continue to have showers and strong thunderstorms.
The northern Gulf of Tonkin on the night of June 9 is forecast to have scattered showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6 - 7 and waves over 2m high.
In addition, the sea area from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau, the central and southern East Sea (including the Truong Sa archipelago) will have strong southwest winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8, rough seas. Waves are 1.5 - 3m high.
The meteorological agency warns that all ships operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes, strong gusts of wind and high waves.
Previously, in the weather trend forecast for June, the meteorological agency said that the number of storms or tropical depressions in the East Sea is likely to be at a level similar to the average of many years. According to the average data of many years in June, there will be about 1.1 storms or tropical depressions in the East Sea.
Storms, tropical depressions and the southwest monsoon are likely to cause strong winds, large waves at sea and affect the activities of ships.
