According to the meteorological agency, the heat wave in the North is gradually weakening. Ms. Le Thi Hong Van, Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said that on April 15-16, the Northwest region will still be hot with 35 - 36 degrees Celsius, with some places above 36 degrees Celsius. In the Northeast region, including Hanoi, the common temperature is 31 - 34 degrees.
Representatives of the Weather Forecasting Department said that the weather is about to change. From the night of April 16 to April 17, due to the influence of weak cold air combined with wind convergence above 1500m, in the Northern region (except Lai Chau, Dien Bien) and Thanh Hoa there will be rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms with rainfall from 20 - 40mm, locally heavy rain over 100mm.

A special note is that in thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. When thunderstorms occur, people should limit going out if not really necessary to avoid the risk of lightning strikes, fallen trees, falling billboards and strong gusts of wind. If you are moving on the street, you need to quickly find a safe shelter, avoid standing under large trees, power poles or open areas" - Ms. Van advised.
Thunderstorms occurring after a prolonged heat wave can cause extreme phenomena. According to Dr. Truong Ba Kien - Deputy Director of the Center for Meteorology and Climate Research, Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology, Environment and Marine Science, the cause is the shift between large-scale circulation systems, with the dispute of two gas masses with completely different characteristics.
The interaction between two gas masses of opposite nature, one hot and one cold, can easily trigger thunderstorms, tornadoes and hailstorms" - Dr. Truong Ba Kien analyzed.
Ms. Hong Van added that from April 17, the weather in the North and Thanh Hoa will turn cool; the heat wave in the North will temporarily end.
In the Central region, from Quang Tri to Da Nang provinces and eastern Quang Ngai to Dak Lak provinces, hot weather and intense heat are still maintained with temperatures of 36 - 39 degrees Celsius, in some places above 39 degrees Celsius on the 15 - 16 days. 4.
Due to the impact of intense and especially intense heat combined with low humidity in the air, there is a high risk of fires and explosions in residential areas due to increased electricity demand and the risk of forest fires. In addition, hot weather can also cause dehydration and exhaustion for the human body when exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
Note that the forecast temperature in hot weather bulletins and the actual perceived temperature outside can differ from 2 - 4 degrees Celsius, or even higher depending on the condition of the buffer surface such as concrete, asphalt roads.
From April 17, hot weather is likely to gradually subside in the areas.
