On June 21, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province said that it had directed the Sub-Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine of the province to coordinate with the People's Committee of Duc An commune to implement epidemic prevention and control measures after the African swine fever outbreak was detected in the area.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, currently the whole province still has 4 localities with African swine fever that have not passed 21 days, including Duc Linh commune, Da Teh 2 commune, Duc An commune and Dong Gia Nghia ward.
In Duc An commune, functional agencies recorded an outbreak at 2 livestock facilities of Mr. Nguyen Van Dung's household (Binh An village) and Mr. Vu Dinh Bang's household (village 7), both raising for processing for DH Vina Agri Co., Ltd. - Binh Duong Branch.
Through inspection, the total pig herd at the 2 facilities was 3,762 heads, weighing from 40 - 60kg/head. The pig herd showed typical symptoms of African swine fever such as high fever, loss of appetite, subcutaneous bleeding and rapid death.

The specialized agency has taken specimens and sent them to the Central Veterinary Diagnosis and Testing Center II for testing. The results showed that all samples were positive for African swine fever virus.
Based on the test results, functional agencies and farming households agreed to destroy all pigs at the above-mentioned establishments.
At the same time, prepare sufficient manpower, vehicles and locations to carry out burial according to regulations.
The Provincial Sub-Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine coordinates with the Duc An Commune People's Committee to arrange forces to closely monitor the destruction process, to prevent the situation of transporting sick or suspected diseased pigs out of the farming area.

According to the assessment of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, the outbreak occurred in an area with many processed livestock farms with high density, posing a risk of rapid spread.
If not controlled in time, the epidemic may spread to small-scale livestock households in Duc An commune and neighboring areas through intermediate disease-transmitting factors.
Previously, at Dateh 02 SF farm of DH Vina Agri Co., Ltd. - Binh Duong Branch in Da Teh commune, functional agencies destroyed more than 8,100 pigs due to African swine fever.
Most recently, on June 18, functional forces of Dong Gia Nghia ward also destroyed 40 pigs at Mr. Mai Thanh Su's farm (Dong Tien residential group) after the pigs showed symptoms of high fever, loss of appetite, subcutaneous bleeding and abnormal death.
