On June 18, Mr. Thach Canh Tinh - Chairman of Dong Gia Nghia Ward People's Committee said that the locality is directing specialized units to focus on handling the African swine fever outbreak that has just arisen in the area.

Previously, on June 16, after receiving information that the pig herd of Mr. Mai Thanh Su's household (Dong Tien residential group) showed symptoms of high fever, loss of appetite, subcutaneous bleeding and abnormal death, functional forces urgently inspected and verified.
Through inspection, the farm has a total herd of 40 pigs including 21 fattening pigs, 1 sow and 18 piglets. At the time of inspection, about 20 pigs showed signs of suspected disease, of which 2 were dead with a total weight of about 320kg.

Specialized agencies have taken specimens for testing, and at the same time guided livestock households to implement sanitation, disinfection and sterilization measures, and not to buy, sell, transport or slaughter pigs in the livestock area.
On June 17, test results confirmed that the specimen was positive for the African swine fever (ASF) virus.

Immediately after that, Dong Gia Nghia Ward People's Committee established a rapid response team, deployed to zone the outbreak and organized the destruction of the entire pig herd according to regulations to prevent the risk of spread.
Up to now, the destruction of infected pig herds and zoning of outbreaks have basically been completed.

In parallel with the work of handling outbreaks, the locality strengthens supervision in the epidemic area and surrounding areas; implements sanitation, disinfection and sterilization with chemicals and lime powder; and at the same time promotes propaganda and guidance for people to apply biosafety farming measures.
Previously, in early May 2026, Lam Dong also recorded a large-scale African swine fever outbreak in Da Teh 3 commune, forcing the destruction of more than 10,000 sick pigs.

Thanks to the drastic implementation of zoning measures, the epidemic was controlled and did not spread widely.
To control the epidemic, the local agricultural sector requires strengthening supervision and strict control of the transportation of animals and animal products; organizing disinfection and sterilization in animal breeding, slaughtering and trading areas.
Functional sectors also recommend that farmers strictly implement biosafety farming procedures, especially complying with the "5 no's" principle: Do not hide the epidemic; do not buy, sell, or transport sick pigs; do not slaughter sick pigs; do not throw dead pig carcasses into the environment; do not use leftover food that has not been treated with heat.
