On May 4, the Lam Dong Provincial Forest Protection Department confirmed that during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, 2 forest fires occurred in the province.

Forest fires all occurred in Sub-area 295, belonging to the forest area managing the Song Dot forestry department, belonging to Binh Thuan Seed and Agricultural Material Station (old) Tan Lap commune.
According to initial statistics, the total area of damaged forest is more than 10ha. Of which, about 2ha belongs to the Coc Hanh forest; 4ha at the drought-tolerant tree garden (linked to the Institute of Seed Research and Forest Biotechnology); about 1.5ha of Calmal eucalyptus and 0.3ha of xoan.
Specifically, at noon on May 1st, during a patrol, forest protection management forces discovered a fire in the Coc Hanh forest. Due to prolonged hot weather and thick vegetation, the fire quickly spread to neighboring areas.
Immediately after the discovery, on-site forces including forest rangers and people were mobilized to participate in firefighting.
Options such as clearing vegetation and creating firebreaks were deployed urgently. After many hours of efforts, the fire was controlled and completely extinguished.

By the morning of May 2, a fire continued to occur in this area in the area of Calmal eucalyptus forest.
The forest owner quickly mobilized local forces to deploy fire fighting measures to prevent the fire from spreading. By noon of the same day, the fire was controlled.
According to the Lam Dong Provincial Forest Protection Department, prolonged hot weather, low humidity and thick undergrowth are factors that have increased the risk of forest fires in recent times.
Currently, the Forest Protection Department has directed forest owners units to coordinate with functional agencies to verify, investigate, and clarify the causes of the fires.
At the same time, it is required to strengthen patrols and inspections, and proactively develop forest fire prevention and fighting plans to minimize possible damage.
