According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the past 24 hours, many places in the Central region have recorded very heavy local rainfall.
Specifically, from 7pm on October 28 to 8am on October 29 at Tra Nham station (Quang Ngai), there was up to 370.4mm of rain, Tra Van station (Da Nang) was 289.8mm and Dinh Bach Ma (Hue) was 257.6mm.
From the morning of October 29 to the night of October 30, it is forecasted that this heavy rain will continue to affect a wide area.
The area from Hue to Da Nang and the east of Quang Ngai province will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall from 100-200mm, locally over 400mm.
The area from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri will have moderate rain, heavy rain with common rainfall of 70-150mm, locally over 300mm.
The meteorological agency warns of the risk of very high intensity rain (over 150mm in just 3 hours). It is expected that from October 30, heavy rain in the area from Hue to Quang Ngai will gradually decrease.
In addition, during the day and night of October 29, thunderstorms will also spread to the Central Highlands, the South and the East of the provinces from Gia Lai to Lam Dong. Rainfall in these areas ranges from 20-40mm, but some places have heavy to very heavy rain over 100mm. People need to be very cautious of dangerous weather phenomena accompanied by thunderstorms such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also warned of a natural disaster risk level due to heavy rain, tornadoes, and lightning at level 1. In particular, in Hue and Da Nang localities, the risk level is level 2.
Heavy rain is forecast to cause serious flooding risks in low-lying areas, urban areas, industrial parks; at the same time, increase the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides on steep slopes. It is forecasted that from October 31, heavy rain in the above areas will gradually decrease.
