Many roads are affected
On September 12, Mr. Vu Duc Nhuan - Chairman of Son Dien Commune People's Committee (Lam Dong) - said that heavy rain caused landslides and felled pine trees on National Highway 28, passing through Gia Bac Pass.
Right in the afternoon and night of September 11, the locality mobilized police and military forces from the commune to the scene to cut down fallen trees and overcome the landslide point. By the morning of September 12, traffic through Gia Bac Pass had returned to normal.
In Dam Rong 2 commune, heavy rain from December 9th to 12th caused localized flooding and landslides in many areas, affecting some traffic routes.
On the low-lying inter-regional road near the Dak R'mang riverbed, Da Mpô residential area, Nam Ro Mai village, water flooded about 300m of road, in some places about 80cm deep. In sub-area 179, river water rose, causing flooding of people's bridges.
Police and military forces of Dam Rong 2 commune are deployed in affected areas to warn and guide people.
The forces also support people in low-lying areas to move their property to safe places.
Urgently respond to and overcome
In Quang Son commune, prolonged heavy rain caused localized flooding and landslides in some villages and hamlets. Local authorities mobilized forces to support people to move property, and at the same time handle landslide points, ensuring traffic.
In the eastern communes of the province such as Ham Tan, Ham Thanh and Tan Ha, heavy rain also caused localized flooding in many areas. Forces were mobilized to support people to raise and move assets to proactively respond.
In Dam Rong 4 commune, heavy rain caused landslides at many points on Provincial Road 722 - an important traffic route connecting Da Lat area with Dam Rong communes and localities of Dak Lak province.
Mr. Khong Huu Kien - Chairman of Dam Rong 4 Commune People's Committee - said that due to the risk of landslides continuing to develop, the locality has arranged on-duty forces to promptly handle when incidents occur.
Especially, on the night of September 11, heavy rain caused landslides on National Highway 20, the section through D'Ran Pass, causing traffic connecting Da Lat with Phan Rang (Khanh Hoa) to be temporarily interrupted.
By the morning of September 12, the landslide point was handled, and traffic through D'Ran Pass has returned to normal in both directions. However, functional forces are still on duty, guiding vehicles to reduce speed when passing through the area.
Faced with the complicated developments of rain and floods, on September 11, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi signed an official dispatch requesting departments, branches, armed forces and localities to proactively respond to the risk of heavy rain, flooding, and landslides in the next 10 days.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, heavy rain caused localized flooding and landslides in many localities in western Lam Dong province. In Ta Dung commune, water flooded into houses of 35 households, causing flooding at 7 traffic points 1 - 3m deep and landslides at 5 taluy points.
In Suoi Kiet commune, schoolyards and roads to Suoi Lao area are flooded, about 10 hectares of crops along Suoi Mo are affected.
By September 11, the whole province recorded 45 affected houses, about 14.4 hectares of flooded crops, with preliminary total damage of about 3 billion VND. Localities are continuing to review and overcome the consequences.
