Late on September 11, Colonel Nguyen Van Tiep - Head of the Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong Provincial Police said that prolonged heavy rain caused landslides at D'ran Pass, causing a large amount of soil, rocks, and trees to spill onto the road surface, causing traffic jams.
At about 10:10 pm on the same day, due to heavy rain, after many efforts, functional forces approached the landslide site and deployed remedial work.
According to Colonel Nguyen Van Tiep, the landslide point was identified at Km263+900 National Highway 20, the section through D'ran Pass. Due to the complicated landslide diễn biến, soil, rocks and trees continue to spill onto the road, posing a potential danger to people and vehicles.
After approaching the scene, according to functional agencies' records, the landslide did not cause any casualties.
Road Traffic Police Team No. 5 coordinated with D'ran Commune Police and D'ran Commune Military Command to organize traffic regulation and warn people.
Due to the complicated developments of landslides, forces are temporarily prohibiting vehicles from traveling through D'ran Pass to ensure safety. Remedial work is being urgently deployed" - Colonel Nguyen Van Tiep said.
D'ran Pass is located on National Highway 20, an important traffic route connecting Phan Rang area (Khanh Hoa) with D'ran commune and Da Lat area (Lam Dong).
Currently, traffic on National Highway 20 through D'ran Pass is temporarily cut off. Functional forces continue to overcome the landslide point and monitor developments to ensure safety when traffic is reorganized.
