On the morning of April 17, leaders of Lien Huong commune (Lam Dong) said that local fishermen had just released a rare sea turtle caught in the net back to the sea safely.

According to initial information, on April 16, during fishing in the Binh Thanh sea area (near Co Thach pagoda beach), Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuoi (Lien Huong commune) and some fishermen discovered a sea turtle caught in the net.
Realizing that sea turtles are a species listed in the Red Book, belonging to the rare and endangered category, Mr. Tuoi quickly removed the nets and released them back into the natural environment.
According to Mr. Tuoi, the turtle weighs about 4 - 6kg, is still healthy and swims well. Through observation and experience, he determined that this is a rare sea turtle species, so he released it back into nature.

Local fishermen said that every year at this time, sea turtles often appear in the Bai Coc cape area to reproduce. Therefore, during near-shore fishing, turtles are occasionally caught in nets.
Recognizing that this is a endangered, precious and rare species that needs to be conserved, in the process of seafood exploitation, local fishermen do not trade sea turtles; if an individual is found caught in the net, they will report to the authorities or release them back to nature as soon as possible.
According to the leader of Lien Huong commune, the sea turtle individual above is identified as belonging to the Vích family (scientific name Chelonia mydas), and is on the list of endangered, precious and rare species that need to be prioritized for protection and conservation.
