Over the past time, the collection and transfer point for domestic waste on the roadside in Do Nghia urban area (Yen Nghia ward, Hanoi City), located next to Yen Nghia Elementary School and next to the Music Park, has continuously spread odors, affecting students, parents and residents in the area.
According to reflections from many parents who regularly pick up and drop off their children at Yen Nghia Primary School, the garbage collection point is located at a three-way intersection, near the school gate and has existed for many months.
When the new school year begins, the amount of garbage collected here and the spreading stench make many people worried about the environment around the school.
A parent said that every day when taking their children to school, parents and students have to go through the garbage collection area. Especially at times when garbage has not been transported in time, the stench rises strongly.
At many times, garbage trucks pass by, causing wastewater to flow down the road surface, a strong stench rises,'torturing' the whole group of parents waiting to pick up their children. Some days we have to stand aside because we can't stand the smell," Ms. Mai Hoa, whose child is studying at Yen Nghia Elementary School, reflected.
Another parent said that schools and parks are spaces that need to be kept clean, ensuring a healthy environment for children. However, the collection of garbage right near the school and the Music Park makes people worried about environmental sanitation as well as the landscape of the area.
According to Lao Dong reporters' records, the garbage collection point is located on the road in Do Nghia urban area, next to the Music Park and only a few dozen meters from the gate of Yen Nghia Elementary School.
At the time of recording at rush hour on September 8, the amount of garbage at this location had been collected and temporarily moved to the surrounding area (about 40m from the old location). However, the smell of garbage is still quite strong, especially in the road surface area and the location where garbage was collected. People passing by have to cover their noses to avoid unpleasant odors.
Notably, around Yen Nghia Elementary School, there are also some spontaneous garbage collection points. According to people's reflections, the situation of dumping garbage in the wrong places is happening in some locations near the school.
Some points also experience garbage burning on the spot. Smoke rises from the piles of garbage, while the garbage burning location is not far from the school area.
At school dismissal time, many students, while waiting for parents to pick them up, still freely play near these gathering and garbage dumping points. Images of garbage, smoke and stench appearing right in the area where students regularly pass by make many parents worried.
Faced with this situation, according to the Investment - Infrastructure Management Board, Yen Nghia Ward People's Committee, the garbage collection location is near the main gate of Yen Nghia Primary School, next to the Music Park (Cây đàn Park), managed by Nam Cuong Hanoi Group Joint Stock Company and arranged as a temporary garbage collection point for the entire D area - Do Nghia Urban Area before being forced and transported to the city's landfill for treatment by the environmental sanitation maintenance unit.

This situation affects traffic, urban aesthetics, generates odors and causes environmental pollution, affects students, teachers, parents picking up and dropping off their children and people living and exercising around the area.
On August 28th, the Investment - Infrastructure Management Board of Yen Nghia Ward issued a document requesting Nam Cuong Hanoi Group Joint Stock Company to relocate the garbage collection point near the main gate of Yen Nghia Elementary School. At the same time, this agency requested the enterprise to urgently arrange a new suitable land fund to relocate the above-mentioned garbage collection point.
