Updated from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, super typhoon Bavi (Vietnamese name is storm Ba Vi) still moved mainly in the West-Northwest direction at a speed of about 20km/h last night and this morning (July 9).
By 7 am this morning (July 9), the center of super typhoon Bavi was located at about 18.3 degrees North latitude - 130 degrees East longitude. The storm's initial intensity is level 16, gusts above level 17. Currently, the storm is about 810km east of Luzon Island (Philippines), about 1100km southeast of Taiwan (China); about 1400km southeast of Fujian province (China).
Forecast for the next 24 hours, super typhoon Bavi will move mainly in the Northwest direction at a fairly fast speed of about 20km/h and will maintain super typhoon intensity for the next 24 hours.
Around July 10, super typhoon Bavi will pass through the northern area of Taiwan Island (China), intensity gradually decreasing to level 15, gusts above level 17.
By the afternoon and night of July 11, Typhoon Bavi will make landfall in the eastern area of Fujian province (China) with a strength of about level 13-14, then go deep into the mainland of Fujian province and gradually weaken.
The Vietnam Hydrometeorological Administration continues to assess that super typhoon Bavi is unlikely to move into the East Sea. However, with its super strong intensity, super typhoon Bavi also affects the weather in the East Sea.
From July 9th, southwest winds in the southern area of the East Sea (including the Truong Sa special zone sea area) will gradually strengthen to level 6. From July 10th to November 11th, the entire north, central and southern areas of the East Sea (including the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa special zone sea areas) can strengthen to level 6-7, sea waves are 3-5m high, and the sea is very rough.
