Faced with complicated storms and floods, the water flow to the reservoir increased rapidly beyond the forecast, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company promptly deployed response measures according to the Inter-reservoir operation process in the Red River basin. The unit mobilizes maximum forces on duty, forecasts and coordinates with competent agencies to handle unusual operational situations.
Mr. Vu Van Tinh - Director of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company said that the unit maintains a command and duty of PCTT 24/7; closely monitors the developments of floods, the flow to the lake, the water level upstream - downstream; promptly reports to the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to decide on a flood cutting and reduction plan.
Along with that, strictly comply with the direction of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province and the Provincial Civil Defense Command; ensure flood discharge operations according to regulations, while maintaining a system of monitoring, warning and communication with localities along the river.
At the flood peak at 9:30 a.m. on September 30, 2025, the water flow to the lake reached 6,985 m3/s, the discharge flow was 5,060 m3/s. Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant has cut 1,925 m3/s, equivalent to 6.93 million m3 of water; on September 30 alone, the total flood cutting capacity for downstream reached 76.49 million m3. This contributes to lowering the flood peak, slowing down the flood process, reducing the risk of flooding and ensuring safety for downstream areas.
Along with technical tasks, ensuring safety for people traveling is a top priority. As soon as the warning was issued, the company's staff and workers quickly coordinated with the Na Hang commune government to mobilize and support households in low-lying areas to move people, property and belongings to higher and safe places.
This timely and practical action has received consensus and high appreciation from the people and local authorities.
