Recorded on Lien Khu 4-5 Street (Binh Hung Hoa Ward), Lien Ap 123 Street (Vinh Loc B Commune), many sections were flooded about 50 cm deep, some places had water rising above the knees of adults, motorbikes stalled in series. People had to walk, many vehicles stopped operating in the middle of the road, causing congestion.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Hoa, a resident living on Lien Khu 4-5 road, said: "It rained for less than half an hour and the water flooded into the house. The road is deeply flooded, vehicles cannot travel, many houses have to use pumps to continuously release water".
Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha said: "The floodwaters caused my house to overflow, damaging my furniture. Every time I see the rain, my family has to move our belongings up high. I hope the government will find a way to fix it and reduce flooding for the people".
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today, October 1, Ho Chi Minh City and the South will have clouds, showers and thunderstorms in some places, with scattered showers in the afternoon and evening, with some places having moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
Temperature ranges from 23-33 degrees Celsius, high humidity makes the weather hot, heavy rain can easily form at the end of the day.
The meteorological agency warns people to proactively avoid and limit going out during heavy rain, especially not taking shelter from rain under trees and electric poles, and should prepare raincoats and waterproof bags for equipment when traveling in the late afternoon.
