On the afternoon of March 24, on the occasion of Vietnam Social Work Day, K Hospital organized a thank-you ceremony for philanthropists and charities who have persistently accompanied and supported cancer patients over the past time.
Attending the program were representatives of the Department of Social Protection (Ministry of Health), leaders of K Hospital and a large number of medical staff, patients and relatives.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hung Kien - Deputy Director of K Hospital - said that after 9 years of implementation, social work activities at the hospital have achieved many positive results, becoming an important bridge between patients and the community. Not only stopping at counseling and psychological support, the social work team also actively mobilizes socialized resources, contributing to reducing the burden of treatment costs for patients.
According to statistics, in the past 9 years, the hospital has connected more than 9,300 individuals and organizations to participate in charity activities; mobilized over 137 billion VND in cash, supporting more than 230,000 turns of patients. Many meaningful models are also maintained effectively such as: Charity kitchens, free accommodation, hair donation programs for cancer patients, "Loving car rides", wheelchair support, classes for pediatric patients...
“The above figures not only show the hospital's efforts but also show the strong spread of the spirit of mutual affection in the community. With the characteristic of prolonged treatment and high costs, cancer patients always need companionship not only from family, doctors, but also from the whole society,” Mr. Kien said.

At the same time, the hospital organized honoring and awarding gratitude cups to 50 typical organizations and individuals who have made many contributions in supporting patients.
