Keeping the fire of gratitude from the hearts of young people

The "Fire of 20" Club (CLB) is contributing to extending the historical memory, making gratitude and social responsibility become the luggage of today's youth.

The flame of age 20

In the midst of the bustling modern pace of life, when many values are easily swept away by the rapid pace of time, there are still young people who choose a different direction for themselves: Returning to memories, to history, to the people who have dedicated their youth to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. The 20th Age Fire Club is day by day preserving and spreading the spirit of gratitude, lighting the fire of responsibility and gratitude with the enthusiastic heart of today's generation.

Mr. Le An Hai - Head of the "Fire of Age 20" Club - shared: "This is the "spiritual child" of the Forever Age 20 Club - an organization founded by veterans, relatives of martyrs and families of people with meritorious services to the revolution.

Previously, diary books such as Dang Thuy Tram's Diary, Forever Twenty of Martyr Nguyen Van Thac's diary touched millions of hearts. From that source of inspiration, veterans - those who directly held guns to protect the Fatherland - established the Forever 20 Club with two great missions: To show gratitude to fallen comrades and to educate ideals and patriotism for the young generation.

However, over time, age and health have made it impossible for veterans to maintain long-term gratitude and charity marches. The need for a young successor force has become urgent. And it was from the first trips of young people accompanying veterans that the "Fire of Age 20" was ignited.

Spreading human values

According to Mr. Le An Hai, the core mission of the "Fire of Age 20" Club is to spread human values through charity and gratitude activities.

With gratitude work, the Club closely coordinates with the Forever 20 Club to organize marches to the old battlefield, visit families of wounded soldiers, martyrs, and people with meritorious services to the revolution.

Not only stopping at giving gifts, each trip is also a vivid educational journey. There, young people directly listen to stories from "historical witnesses", and witness firsthand the war memories that are still intact in the eyes and tears of veterans.

Accompanying gratitude are community-oriented charity activities. The club organizes many programs such as Warm Winter, Green Summer, Autumn Charity, bringing socialized resources to disadvantaged areas, contributing to improving people's lives and spreading the spirit of sharing.

Mr. Ly Thanh Son - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Xuan Hoa commune, Head of the Culture - Society Committee of Xuan Hoa Commune People's Council (Lao Cai) said that in recent years, the "Fire of Age 20" Club has left many positive imprints in the locality through practical volunteer activities, associated with the actual needs of people and students.

In 2023, the Club implemented the program "Warm Winter for Children" in Vinh Yen commune and "Green Summer" in Phuc Khanh commune. Within the framework of the activities, the Club donated warm clothes to students, banh chung to poor households; participated in building new rural areas; organized talent training classes and summer activities for children. At the same time, it donated a computer project worth 100 million VND and the project "Lighting up rural roads" worth 30 million VND.

In 2024, responding to the call to overcome the consequences of Typhoon Yagi in the area, the "Fire of Age 20" Club mobilized resources and forces of union members and youth to participate in supporting people to overcome damage caused by storm No. 4.

In 2025, in the context of implementing the two-level local government model, the Club coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Xuan Hoa commune to organize the program "Bright Moon in Our School" at Primary and Secondary School No. 1 of Xuan Hoa commune (Lao Cai). Here, nearly 800 students received gifts including confectionery, star lanterns, military drums... with a total value of nearly 100 million VND.

Through activities, the "Fire of Age 20" Club has affirmed the pioneering and voluntary spirit of youth, spreading human values. At the same time, it shows the role of youth in contributing labor and effort to implement the political tasks of the locality" - Mr. Son said.

In the journey of giving human values, the "Fire of Age 20" Club is still contributing to building a compassionate society, where gratitude is cherished, historical memories are not forgotten, and where youth knows how to live for things greater than themselves.
