Quang Tri - While picking seaweed, a woman was accidentally swept away by the waves and was luckily rescued by two fishermen.

On the evening of January 15, Con Co Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Border Guard) said that the People's Committee of Con Co island district had just organized a ceremony to encourage and reward members who participated in rescuing a woman in distress.

Earlier, at around 4:30 p.m. the same day, five people on Con Co Island went to pick seaweed. Due to carelessness, Ms. V.T.T (born in 1972) was swept away by waves about 20 meters from shore.

Hearing the cry for help from a group of people picking seaweed, Nguyen Phi Hung (born in 1993) and Nguyen Song Minh (born in 2000, both living in My Duc, Phu My, Binh Dinh) jumped into the sea and swam to the rescue.

The security and order self-management team of Con Co island also mobilized to support, taking the woman to the emergency room at Con Co island district Medical Center.

It is known that Mr. Nguyen Phi Hung and Nguyen Song Minh are fishermen on fishing boat number BD-92209-TS. The fishing boat operates a purse seine, captained by Mr. Pham Cong Boi (born in 1973, residing in My Duc, Phu My, Binh Dinh).

When Ms. V.T.T had the accident, the fishing boat was anchored at Con Co island. Two fishermen left the boat and were walking ashore when they heard a cry for help and immediately jumped into the sea.

At the time of the incident, it was raining and very cold on Con Co Island.
