On December 13, the Cu Lao Cham Marine Protected Area Management Board received a hawksbill turtle from fisherman Tran Thi Dien (residing in group 1, Bai Huong village, Tan Hiep commune) caught in a fishing net. This individual weighed 4.5 kg, had a yellow-brown shell, with iridescent patterns and patterns.
After carefully checking the relevant information of the hawksbill sea turtle, determining that it was in good health and had quick reflexes, the fishermen released it back into the wild, witnessed by the Marine Protected Area Management Board.
Hawksbill turtles (scientific name Eretmochelys Imbricata) are sea turtles of the family Virididae. Hawksbill turtles look like sea turtles but have large, beautifully patterned shells. This animal is classified as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, at high risk of extinction; hunting and trade are prohibited.
