On January 12, the Border Guard Command of Quang Binh province announced that it had successfully rescued 6 crew members of a sunken fishing boat.
At 3:30 a.m. the same day, Gianh Border Control Station received a report that fishing boat ND-92357-TS, captained by Mr. Nguyen Van Thach (in Hai Chinh commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province), with 6 crew members on board, was on its way to Gianh estuary. When it reached buoy number 4, about 1.5 nautical miles from Gianh estuary, the boat ran aground and was sunk by big waves.
The crew members on board clung to the bow of the ship, the captain asked the authorities for support and rescue.
The Provincial Border Guard Command directed Border Guard Squadron 2 to mobilize MS boats and 20 officers and soldiers from 2 units, and Gianh Port Border Guard Station mobilized fishing boat QB-98774-TS, with 4 crew members of Mr. Nguyen Huu Tho (in Tan My ward, Ba Don town) to coordinate the rescue.
By 8:00 a.m. on January 12, the forces had reached and rescued 6 crew members and brought them safely to shore. The unit's medical staff provided medical care and stabilized the fishermen's mental state. According to the owner of fishing boat ND-92357-TS, total property damage was about 6.5 billion VND.
Previously, at 10:30 p.m. on January 11, fishing boat BV-92536-TS, owned and captained by Mr. Vo Van Nguyen (residing in Pho Thanh ward, Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province) (already ashore), was anchored in the waters of Hon La port when an electrical short circuit caused a fire.
The two crew members who stayed behind to guard the ship were promptly evacuated to the QNg-94157-TS ship safely.
The Hon La Border Control Station coordinated with the Hon La Port Authority to approach and spray water to rescue the ship. However, due to big waves and strong winds, the fire spread quickly, causing the ship to burn and sink. It is known that the fishing boat BV-92536-TS was first registered in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. The ship has now been sold to Mr. Vo Van Nguyen and is in the process of completing the transfer of ownership documents.
Roon Border Guard Station sent officers to approach and encourage fishermen, and at the same time verify the incident and damage information.
