Land donation to open roads in Ninh Binh spreads from a parish

NGUYỄN TRƯỜNG |

Ninh Binh - From a narrow road, after many months of mobilization, hundreds of households have voluntarily donated land, opening up a wide and convenient road for travel.

In mid-April 2026, records at the road leading from National Highway 10 to the residential area of Kim Son commune, Ninh Binh province, the road surface has been widened, making people's travel more convenient than before.

According to local people, previously this road was narrow, many sections were "bottleneck", and it was difficult for vehicles to pass, especially during peak hours or when trucks passed by.

Previously, it was very difficult for two cars to avoid each other, and many times they had to reverse to give way. Since the expansion, travel has become much more convenient, and people are very excited" - a resident living along the road said.

To achieve this change, the local government has coordinated with Khiet Ky Parish to mobilize people to donate land to expand the road. The mobilization process is not easy when many households are still concerned and worried about the impact on the existing land area and works.

According to a representative of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kim Son commune, initially, mobilizing people to donate land to build roads faced many difficulties due to the people's psychology of keeping land. Most of the households here are Catholics. However, after many times of propaganda and explanation, people gradually understood and agreed with the policy of road expansion.

One of the factors creating a change in propaganda and mobilization of people to donate land to build roads is that Khiet Ky family has set an example, proactively donating more than 200m2 of land to open roads.

From that pioneering spirit, households along both sides of the road successively agreed and voluntarily dismantled the works and donated land to widen the road surface.

According to statistics, there are about 200 households, including more than 100 parishioners of Khiet Ky Parish, who voluntarily donated land to expand the road. The land donation is carried out on a voluntary basis, without generating complaints.

Mr. Nguyen Cao Son - Chairman of Kim Son Commune People's Committee said that the mobilization process lasted many months, requiring a combination of many forms, from people's meetings, community propaganda to direct meetings with each household to remove obstacles.

The important thing is to create consensus. When people see the common interests and there are pioneering examples, they will support it" - Mr. Son said.

After completion, the road will not only facilitate travel but also contribute to embellishing residential areas and creating a new face for the locality.

From the practical effectiveness, the model of mobilizing people to donate land to open roads in Kim Son has been widely spread, contributing to promoting the movement to build new rural areas in a sustainable direction.
