The brain-dead organ donor was a 63-year-old female patient who was admitted to the 108 Military Central Hospital at 8:00 p.m. on December 29, 2024. The patient was treated with utmost care by the medical team but due to her serious illness, she did not survive.
The patient is a Vietnamese living and working in the Lao PDR. During this time, the patient returned to the country for work but unfortunately contracted a serious illness and could not survive. After being discussed and explained about the noble act, the family agreed to let the patient donate his organs to save lives. The noble heart of a child far from home always turns towards the country, saving the lives of many compatriots who are suffering from illness. Organ donation not only saves a limited number of lives but also lights up an infinite flame of hope for the entire community.
Immediately after the patient's family agreed to donate organs, a professional council with 3 independent experts from the 108 Military Central Hospital diagnosed the patient as brain dead according to the correct procedure.
After receiving the diagnosis of brain death from the Expert Council and the consensus of the patient's family, 108 Military Central Hospital urgently planned to retrieve multiple organs, closely coordinating with the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center and Cho Ray Hospital to list patients who would receive organ transplants. On the afternoon of January 2, 2025, 108 Military Central Hospital organized the retrieval-transplantation and coordination of multiple organs.
