A group of 9 fishermen from Le Thuy district (Quang Binh province) brought 4 large fishing boats to Thai Nguyen to help rescue people in flood-hit areas.
On the morning of September 11, the People's Committee of Ngu Thuy Bac commune (Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province) confirmed that a group of fishermen from the commune volunteered to go to Thai Nguyen province to support the rescue of people in flooded areas.
The volunteer group of 9 fishermen had many years of experience at sea. After many days of monitoring information on the media about the northern provinces heavily affected by storms and floods, the group asked for the opinion of local authorities and together prepared to set out to rescue people in flooded areas.
Thai Nguyen province was chosen because of information from social networks, many areas here are seriously flooded, support and rescue are very necessary when many residential areas are isolated.
The group also decided to bring four fishing boats, which are small, motorized boats that can squeeze into the nooks and crannies between residential areas to transport people or deliver food.
Upon receiving the information, local people sent some necessities and 1,000 life jackets from the donated money to help people in the flooded area; Le Thuy District Youth Union provided additional funding and drinking water.
This afternoon, a large truck carrying four fishing boats and a volunteer team officially set off. “We have participated in many times in supporting people in the historic flood area in Le Thuy, so we understand how much help people need in situations like this. It is expected that around noon on September 11, we will arrive and immediately start the rescue work,” said Mr. Tran Van Hung, the leader of the fishing group.
Also in Le Thuy, Mr. Vo Van Canh (An Thuy commune, Le Thuy district) and his friends donated necessities to bring to the people of the North.
“After the call, people in the commune brought a lot of necessities such as instant noodles, bread, water, etc. We have received more than 1 ton of goods donated by people. It is expected that in the next 1-2 days, our group of nearly 10 people will depart to flooded areas in the North to provide support,” said Mr. Canh.
Mr. Canh is a mechanic, so when he went to the areas affected by storm number 3, wherever mechanical support was needed, he was ready to lend a hand.
