Dak Lak - The man who saved more than 40 people trapped in floodwaters has just been awarded a certificate of merit for his outstanding achievements.

On November 24, Mr. Dao My - Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, signed a decision to award a certificate of merit to Mr. Tran Cong Thanh for his outstanding achievements and bravery in saving people during floods.

During the historic flood from November 18 to 22 in Dak Lak, Mr. Tran Cong Thanh (51 years old, Phu Huu village, Hoa Thinh commune) bravely rescued more than 40 people trapped in floodwaters.

Previously, on the evening of November 19 and early morning of November 20, floodwaters in Phu Huu village suddenly rose, many households had to climb to the roofs and remove tiles to call for help.

Hearing the cry for help from everywhere, Mr. Thanh left all his assets before he could move them to higher ground, rowing a small boat alone to rescue people.

For two days, Mr. Thanh was immersed in the rushing floodwaters, trying to save more than 40 people.

Mr. Thanh's brave action not only saved many lives, but also became an example of a sense of responsibility and dedication to the community during the days of fierce natural disasters in Dak Lak.
