On the evening of November 19, seeing the big water, the whole family of 4 adults and 5 children ran to the high-rise house to avoid the flood. When I returned on the morning of November 21, all 3 houses were flattened by the flood, and I no longer had a set of clothes taken away" - Ms. Dieu said.

Female union member dies after crossing floodwaters to give birth

The most painful case was the family of Ms. Le Thi Loan - an accountant at An Hung Company, residing in Phu An village, Tuy Hoa ward.

When the floodwaters rose on the evening of November 19, Mr. Tran Van Thien - Ms. Loan's husband - took his wife, who was 9 months pregnant, to a higher neighbor's house for temporary shelter. Worried about his wife preparing to give birth, he decided to return to the authorities to pray for help. On the way, the water was up to his belly, he was swept away by the water and had cramps but still tried to swim to escape.

At that time, Ms. Loan and her son were taken to Phu Yen Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital with the support of the Traffic Police, but the hospital was deeply flooded and had no power.

After 2 days in the hospital, she was transferred to Phu Yen General Hospital. When giving birth, due to poor health, Ms. Loan did not survive the surgery. Ms. Loan passed away, leaving behind 3 young children and her house was deeply flooded and in disarray after the flood.
