The great spiritual gift of patients

On the morning of December 27th, members of the Living Sharing Charity Group and the Youth Union of Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital were present at the Oncology Department of Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital, An Dong campus very early. Some prepared cakes, others prepared flowers, fruits, and candies for the last love birthday cake program of 2025.

Today's program is organized for 23 patients being treated at the Oncology and Mitigation Surgery Department who have birthdays in November and December. When the candles are lit on the birthday cake, everyone sings birthday wishes for the 23 main characters of the party. All the worries on the patient's face at this time turn into happy smiles.

Mr. Hoang Trung C (72 years old, residing in Vinh Bao commune, Hai Phong) was held his first birthday right at the hospital. Touched to receive a surprise birthday gift, Mr. C shared that for nearly 2 years, he has been fighting rectal cancer. During that time, there were times when his spirit collapsed, his health was exhausted, causing his relatives and family to worry. But then, with the bravery of a former soldier, along with the care of his family and doctors, Mr. C revived his spirit and determination to fight this disease. To date, his condition has progressed well, and he himself and his family have more faith to continue fighting and overcoming the disease.

“For cancer patients, mental medicine is extremely important. Therefore, the Loving Birthday Cake program organized by young people, both warm and meaningful, like family members, makes us even more touched. Hopefully the program will be spreading more and more, bringing joy to many patients, helping them have more motivation and faith” - Mr. C said.

Motivation on the journey of charity

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Quang - Head of the Living and Sharing Charity Group, the program "Love Birthday Cake" has been implemented since 2020. In 2025 alone, the program is organized every 2 months, bringing joy to 108 cancer patients being treated at the Oncology - Mitral Care Department and the Clinical Hematology Department. The program is organized with the desire to help patients overcome the pain of illness, their own fears, and resiliently fight against the terrible cancer.

The joy of the patients also spread to each member of the "Song Se Chia" group so that they can cherish life more, care for and love their loved ones around them. Last year, the group also organized the "Loving Birthday Cake" program at Hai Phong SOS Children's Village, bringing joy to children in special circumstances.

Along with this activity, the group maintains many meaningful charity projects such as the "Joy for Children" project (giving gifts to schools, charity houses, fishing villages), "Accompanying Children to School" project (supporting students in difficult circumstances to rise up in their studies), the "Living to Love" project for leprosy patients and lonely elderly people. In addition, the "Warm Winter", "Loving Wind" programs... are also being spread, receiving attention, support, and response from organizations and individuals inside and outside the city. Members of the "Song Se Chia" group organize 2 voluntary blood donation activities "Got Hong Se Chia" in 2025, contributing 606 units of blood, saving patients.

After many years of operation, each program organized by the group has received the joint efforts and support of many organizations and philanthropists. That is the motivation for us to continue our journey, bringing warmth, faith, and gifts both material and spiritual to those who are still in difficult circumstances, spreading good things in life" - Mr. Quang said.
