On January 20, the Women's Union of Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang Province) coordinated with the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Phu Quoc City, Phu Quoc Culture, Sports and Broadcasting Center to organize a zero-dong Tet market with the theme "Loving Tet Celebrating the Year of the Snake 2025".
According to the Phu Quoc City Women's Union, the unit has coordinated with the Women's Unions of communes and wards in the area to distribute 300 free grocery coupons to disadvantaged and unlucky families, homeless children, lonely elderly people, and lottery ticket sellers.
The 0 VND grocery vouchers are used to buy dozens of essential items used during the traditional Tet holiday of the nation such as: cakes, candies, rice, soft drinks, cooking oil, sugar... Each voucher is worth about 650,000 VND, sponsored by the Phu Quoc City Women's Union, mobilizing the Phu Quoc City Women Entrepreneurs Association.
Ms. Bien My Linh - President of Phu Quoc City Women's Union - said: "This is the first year that the Union has coordinated with the City's Women Entrepreneurs Association to organize a zero-dong market during the traditional Tet holiday. Thereby, we aim to join hands with local Party committees, authorities and the entire political system to take care of poor households, near-poor households and disadvantaged households, orphans, homeless children; share love so that all disadvantaged families on the pearl island can enjoy the Spring and Tet holiday."
Ms. Tran Thi Xuan Thuy - Head of the Phu Quoc City Women Entrepreneurs Association - said: "In addition to business, the Association also always accompanies and shares love with families in difficult economic circumstances. Therefore, we have coordinated to organize a zero-dong market to support disadvantaged households to have a more complete Tet holiday."
Ms. Dang Thi Thom (residing in Duong Dong ward) said: “I am 78 years old this year but despite difficult circumstances, I still have to sell lottery tickets to make a living. Tet is approaching and I have not been able to buy anything. Today, I am very happy to receive Tet gifts.”
Ms. Cao Thi Son (living in Duong Dong ward) confided: “I have 3 children but I am sick and have no job. When Tet comes, everyone goes shopping but I have no money to buy anything, which makes me sad. I am old so it is difficult for me to work to earn money like when I was young. Luckily, today I went to the 0 VND market and got a gift, I am very excited.”
The zero-dong market shared and spread love, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere, helping families in difficult circumstances feel the love of the community.
