On January 14, in Phu Quoc City, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and the Central delegation visited and extended New Year greetings to a number of armed forces units stationed in the area, offered flowers and incense at Ho Chi Minh Square; and also extended New Year greetings to the Party Committee, government and people of Kien Giang Province and Phu Quoc City.
Accompanying the delegation were Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc; Party Central Committee member, Provincial Party Secretary, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Kien Giang province Do Thanh Binh; Deputy Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan.
President Luong Cuong visited and extended New Year greetings to the following units: Naval Region 5 Command, Coast Guard Region 4 Command, Brigade 950 (Military Region 9), Special Police Team of the Mobile Police Regiment of the Ministry of Public Security, Radar Station 30 of the Air Defense - Air Force Service, and 5 Border Guard Stations in Phu Quoc City.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President sent his sincere regards and best wishes for the New Year to the officers and soldiers of the armed forces stationed in Phu Quoc City and on duty in the southwestern sea of the Fatherland.
The President emphasized that 2024 is a special year, with more difficulties and challenges than advantages and opportunities. However, thanks to the wise, timely and close leadership of the Party, the support of the National Assembly, the strict management and administration of the Government, all levels, sectors, localities and the entire political system, together with the joint efforts and consensus of the entire people, the entire army and the business community, our country has achieved many comprehensive results in all fields.
Major socio-economic development targets were achieved and exceeded; social security was taken care of, and people's material and spiritual life was stable and improved.
National defense and security were strengthened, social order and safety were ensured. The work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system and the fight against corruption, waste and negativity achieved positive results, strengthening people's trust in the Party and the State.
Foreign affairs continue to be promoted, becoming a bright spot, enhancing the country's position, maintaining peace and stability for development.
The President assessed that this proud achievement had a great contribution from the officers and soldiers of the armed forces nationwide in general and from the officers and soldiers of the units who are day and night performing the task of protecting the Fatherland, contributing to maintaining the sacred territory, sea and islands of the Southwest region of the Fatherland.
The President emphasized that 2025 is a year with many major political events in the country and a strong determination to implement the targets of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. To achieve these goals, the entire Party, people and army must continue to unite, join forces, and make the most of every favorable opportunity, repel risks, and overcome difficulties and challenges.
The President requested that the armed forces on duty in the southwestern sea and Phu Quoc City focus on thoroughly grasping and effectively implementing the Resolution of the 13th Central Committee, Session 8, on the Strategy for National Defense in the new situation, especially new thinking and awareness on national defense. Always raise vigilance, prevent plots and tricks of hostile forces; promptly detect and promptly resolve arising issues, avoid being passive and surprised in any situation.
The President directed the armed forces to continue to closely coordinate with local Party committees and authorities, directly the authorities of Phu Quoc City and Kien Giang Province, in managing and protecting sovereignty at sea, preventing and combating crimes, and effectively stopping fishing vessels and fishermen from violating foreign waters.
Play a key role in protecting the Fatherland and people's security, promote mass mobilization, propaganda about the sea and islands, rescue work, support fishermen, especially in offshore areas. Become a solid support for fishermen to go out to sea, stick to the sea, and protect the sacred sea and islands of the Fatherland.
Wishing the Party Committee of Kien Giang province a happy new year, President Luong Cuong sent his warm regards and best wishes for the New Year to the Party Committee, government, and all the people, officers and soldiers of the armed forces of Kien Giang province.
The President expressed his joy at the results and achievements that the Party Committee, government, and people of Kien Giang province have achieved in the recent past, especially in 2024. The achievements of the army and people of Kien Giang province not only reflect the efforts and solidarity of the entire province, but also contribute significantly to the successful completion of the common tasks of the whole country. The President highly appreciated the efforts of Phu Quoc city, a key locality of Kien Giang province.
The President affirmed that Kien Giang has a very important strategic role and position in many fields, from economy, politics, tourism to national defense and security. With such potential and advantages, the President requested Party committees and authorities at all levels to continue to focus on leadership, direction, and thoroughly grasp the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's policies and laws. At the same time, it is necessary to maintain and promote the achievements that have been made, resolutely overcome the limitations and shortcomings of 2024.
Regarding the tasks for 2025, the President emphasized the need to proactively remove difficulties and focus on successfully implementing the assigned tasks. On this occasion, the President and the Provincial Party Committee presented gifts to 20 policy families, poor households, 20 workers and laborers in Phu Quoc City.
