On May 23, a working group of the Vietnam Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Association and the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department - Phu Tho Provincial Police visited, encouraged and expressed gratitude to the family of Mr. Dang Duy Doanh - who heroically sacrificed himself while falling into the Red River, and others to save 4 drowning students in Zone 3, Cao Xa Commune, Lam Thao District, Phu Tho Province.
In recent years, natural disasters and accidents have become increasingly complicated, causing great damage to people and posing great challenges for rescue forces as well as the whole society.
In that situation, there are many individuals who are not afraid of danger, willing to forget themselves to help others, spreading noble human values in the community.
On May 20, 2025, in Zone 3, Cao Xa Commune, Lam Thao District, Phu Tho Province, Mr. Dang Duy Doanh - a local resident - bravely jumped into the Red River with others to save 4 drowning 7th grade students.
As soon as he heard the cry for help, he did not hesitate to jump into the rushing water to save people. Thanks to the efforts of him and the surrounding people, all 4 students were saved. However, Mr. Dang Duy Doanh unfortunately died after committing such a noble act.
Admiring and touched by the selfless bravery of Mr. Dang Duy Doanh, the Vietnam Association of Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue organized a working group with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department - Phu Tho Provincial Police to visit, encourage and share the loss with his family. Here, the delegation burned incense, expressed gratitude to Mr. Dang Duy Doanh and presented a support amount of 20 million VND from the Association's "For a Peaceful Life" Fund.
Mr. Dang Duy Doanh, 31 years old, is the main breadwinner in a near-poor family. He is taking care of his elderly parents and younger brother who is seriously ill. His passing was a huge loss not only to his family but also to the whole community.
The Vietnam Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Association always recognizes, honors and accompanies brave citizens who have sacrificed their lives to help others in emergency situations.
Examples like Mr. Dang Duy Doanh will always be engraved, respected and spread in the community. The Association is committed to continuing to maintain and expand activities of gratitude, support and honor for those who have sacrificed for the safety and peace of society - so that those good values are always nurtured and continued in the hearts of every Vietnamese person.
