Previously, according to the report of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh province, on the afternoon of May 21, in Hai An village, Quang Thanh commune, Hai Ha district, there was a group of 7 people, including 4 students in grade 10 of Nguyen Du high school, bathing at the Quang Thanh spillway, unfortunately there was a particularly serious drowning accident.
Up to this point, the locality has confirmed that 3 students have died, 1 student is being treated at the hospital, and his health has stabilized.
According to the school's newspaper, the above students all knew how to swim, however, because they were swimming at the spillway, the flood suddenly came, so they were swept away. Every year, the school plans to instruct swimming skills and promote drowning prevention to students.
Immediately after learning about the incident, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh directed Nguyen Du High School to coordinate with functional forces and local authorities to visit, encourage and support the search and funeral arrangements for the deceased student.
The Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh also directed Nguyen Du High School and educational institutions in the province to strengthen the prevention and control of accidents, injuries and drowning for students with specific guidance solutions.
Regarding this incident, after receiving the information, the Ministry of Education and Training issued a document directing the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh province to urgently visit and encourage families and students in distress; coordinate with local authorities and families in taking care of the funeral arrangements for the students.
Continue to strictly implement Official Dispatch No. 2414/BGDDT-HSSV dated May 16, 2025 of the Ministry of Education and Training on strengthening management, education and ensuring safety for children, students and pupils during the summer of 2025.
