During the process of detecting and handling violations, the Hanoi Traffic Police will print out photos of the violations for the driver to see before signing the penalty notice.
At the Pham Hung - Duong Dinh Nghe intersection (Cau Giay district), many people still lack awareness and openly run red lights, posing a high risk of traffic accidents.Faced with that situation, on the afternoon of January 1, Traffic Police Team No. 6 (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police) arranged a working group to use cameras to record violators, especially those who did not comply with traffic lights (running red lights).Just a few minutes after deployment, the task force discovered a female driver driving a motorbike with license plate 29U6-39XX running a red light, so they signaled the vehicle to stop and check. The recording device is connected to the violating printer, so the violator can directly check and sign the confirmation on the spot.Speaking to the working group, Ms. B.T.H.Y (residing in Cau Giay, Hanoi) said that because the road was deserted, she was complacent. After this fine, she will never repeat the offense again. For the offense of "Driving without obeying traffic lights", Ms. H.Y will be fined 5 million VND and have 4 points deducted from her driving license (according to Decree 168/2024 effective from January 1, 2025).Several other cases were detected by the task force for red light running. All violations were recorded and printed out for the violators to check and sign to confirm the correct error.“Most traffic participants know that from today, the penalties for acts that cause traffic accidents will increase, so they have complied. There are only a few cases of intentional violations. The unit has thoroughly informed each officer and soldier to actively propagate and handle the situation with the motto of no exceptions, no forbidden zones,” said Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Chien - Captain of Traffic Police Team No. 6.From now on, in the process of performing tasks, the authorities will prioritize the use of technological equipment, surveillance systems, cameras... to provide images proving violations, in addition to direct detection.
On January 1, 2025, the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety and Decree 168/2024 officially came into effect. According to the new decree, many acts and groups of acts have increased penalties.
